Hacktoberfest 2021

"Open source is changing the world – one contribution at a time."

We are super excited that Bitrise is participating in this year's Hacktoberfest 2021 event.  This month-long event throughout October gives you the chance to contribute to the Open Source codebase of Bitrise.

How to get started

Hacktoberfest is open to everyone in our global community. First, please read the official Hacktoberfest resources about participation rules and quality standards.

Please make sure to read our Code of Conduct and Contribution Guidelines.

You can sign up anytime between October 1 and October 31. Just be sure to sign up on the official Hacktoberfest website for your pull requests to count.

Our Challenges

Bitrise Steps are the building blocks of CI workflows.  A Step is a piece of the workflow, such as cloning the project repository, building your iOS app, or posting a Slack message when the build is finished.
These steps are open source on GitHub, so anyone can take a look at the code and contribute to it.
We welcome contributions in the bitrise-steplib GitHub organization repositories. Please note that projects in the bitrise-io organization are not part of Hacktoberfest.

Please follow our Code of Conduct and Contribution Guidelines.

Bitrise engineers have selected a couple of open issues that are ideal for first-time contributors. They fall into the following categories:

  • Bugfixes
  • Performance or UI improvements
  • Minor enhancements

It is entirely up to you what you choose to work on — just make sure to look for the ‘hacktoberfest' label.

If you have an idea that you don’t see listed, open a new issue in the relevant Step repository with your proposal. If you have any questions, contact us on our public Slack #hacktoberfest2021 channel!
